When Manuel Gutierrez Botello was born in 1907, his father, Mariano Botello Gutierrez, was 26 and his mother, Hevila Botello Saldivar, was 28. He married Elisa Recinos on 2 July 1948, in Mexico City, Mexico. He died on 28 November 1985, in Álvaro Obregón, Mexico City, Mexico, at the age of 78.

Calles succeeded by Obregón, who is assassinated before taking office. Calles, who is to remain political strongman through 1935, chooses Emilio Portes Gil as president.
