Axel Godfrid Swanson was born on 11 December 1887, in Brandstorp, Västra Götaland, Sweden as the son of Lars Erik Svensson and Charlotta Albertina Andersdotter. He married Emma Wilhelmina Lawson on 8 April 1911, in Erie, Pennsylvania, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 2 daughters. He lived in Concord, Concord Township, Erie, Pennsylvania, United States in 1930 and Concord Township, Erie, Pennsylvania, United States in 1940. He died on 5 November 1957, in Corry, Erie, Pennsylvania, United States, at the age of 69, and was buried in Spartansburg, Crawford, Pennsylvania, United States.
