When Nancy Anna Sherrick was born on 18 January 1794, in Alverton, East Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States, her father, John Sherrick, was 27 and her mother, Nancy Ann Nissley Stauffer, was 18. She married Martin Kendig about 1812, in Hempfield, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. She lived in Westmoreland City, North Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States in 1860 and Circleville, North Huntingdon Township, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States in 1880. She died on 15 April 1884, at the age of 90, and was buried in Irwin, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years.
