When Angenette Permelia Bates was born on September 30, 1849, in Grove, Iowa, her father, Ormus, was 34, and her mother, Morilla, was 25. She married Apollos Boaz Lambson on January 25, 1869, in Levan, Utah. They had 14 children in 26 years. She died on July 24, 1894, in Ramah, New Mexico, at the age of 44, and was buried there.

1857 · The State Capital moves to Des Moines

The Capitol was located in Iowa City until the 1st General Assembly of Iowa recognized that the Capitol should be moved farther west than Iowa City. Land was found two miles from the Des Moines River to start construction of the new building. Today the Capitol building still stands on its original plot.
