The Gulf War also known as the First Gulf War, and commonly known as Desert Storm. It was initiated with United Nations authorization, by a coalition force from 34 nations against Iraq, with the expressed purpose of expelling Iraqi forces from Kuwait after its invasion and annexation on 2 August 1990.

The Accord was an agreement between the United States and the Soviet Union to minimize nuclear and chemical weapon stockpiles to around 5,000 by 2003. Both sides succeed in keeping the agreement.

The Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was announced by President Gordon B. Hinckley during a General Conference session held on October 3, 1992.
