The Albuquerque New Mexico Temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was dedicated on March 5, 2000 by President Gordon B. Hinckley. It is the first temple built in New Mexico. The exterior is similar to the Salt Lake Temple. When there was problems obtaining the land for the temple the youth of the area showed their faith by praying and fasting until the land was finally obtained
