When John Parry was born on 22 June 1799, in Bishop's Frome, Herefordshire, England, his father, Richard Parry, was 26 and his mother, Elizabeth Barnard, was 24. He married Grace Ann Williams on 14 November 1822, in Ashperton, Herefordshire, England, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 5 daughters. He immigrated to America, McCurtain, Oklahoma, United States in 1840 and lived in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States in 1840 and Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1847. He died on 19 July 1855, in Atchison, Kansas, United States, at the age of 56, and was buried in Atchison, Kansas, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
