When Lowell Sharp Bennion was born on 26 March 1898, in Vernon, Tooele, Utah, United States, his father, Israel Bennion, was 37 and his mother, Jeanette Sharp, was 38. He registered for military service in 1918. He died on 26 August 1940, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 42, and was buried in Vernon Cemetery, Vernon, Tooele, Utah, United States.

The original Salt Palace was built in 1899 and It stood on 900 South, between State Street and Main Street. The Salt Palace was a frame structure covered in large pieces of rock salt, which gave it its name. The Salt Palace was destroyed by fire on August 29, 1910 and was replaced by the Majestic Hall. This Hall only lasted for a while during the remodel of the Salt Palace. The Salt Palace served as the Olympic Media Center during the 2002 Winter Olympics. Salt Lake Comic Con has been held at the Salt Palace Convention Center since September 2013.
The Daughters of Utah Pioneers was organized by Annie Taylor Hyde after she invited a group of fifty-four women to her home to find ways to recognize names and achievements of the men, women and children who were the pioneers. They followed the lead of other national lineage societies, such as the Daughters of the American Revolution. They were legally incorporated in 1925.
