When Jacob Foutz Sr was born on 20 November 1800, in Washington Township, Franklin, Pennsylvania, United States, his father, John Foutz, was 32 and his mother, Elizabeth Catherine Hinkle, was 29. He married Margaret Mann on 22 July 1822, in Tomstown, Quincy Township, Franklin, Pennsylvania, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 8 daughters. He lived in Adams, Illinois, United States in 1839 and Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States in 1842. He registered for military service in 1814. He died on 11 February 1848, in Salt Lake Valley, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 47, and was buried in Old Deseret Village Pioneer Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.
