When John Lytle was born on 18 August 1803, in Turbotville, Northumberland, Pennsylvania, United States, his father, Andrew Lytle Sr, was 25 and his mother, Sarah Davidson, was 29. He married Christina Diana Whitner on 27 February 1827, in Norton Township, Summit, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 12 October 1892, in St. George, Washington, Utah, United States, at the age of 89, and was buried in Saint George City Cemetery, St. George, Washington, Utah, United States.
