He married Maria Katherine Lawrence in 1854, in Lehi, Utah, Utah, United States. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Pottawattamie, Iowa, United States in 1850 and Utah, United States in 1870. He died on 19 March 1905, in Lehi, Utah, Utah, United States, at the age of 70, and was buried in Lehi City Cemetery, Lehi, Utah, Utah, United States.

1836 · Remember the Alamo

Being a monumental event in the Texas Revolution, The Battle of the Alamo was a thirteen-day battle at the Alamo Mission near San Antonio. In the early morning of the final battle, the Mexican Army advanced on the Alamo. Quickly being overrun, the Texian Soldiers quickly withdrew inside the building. The battle has often been overshadowed by events from the Mexican–American War, But the Alamo gradually became known as a national battle site and later named an official Texas State Shrine.

1839 · Nauvoo is Settled

After the Saints had been chased out of Missouri they moved to a swampy area located next to the Mississippi River. Here they settled and named the place Nauvoo which translates into the city beautiful.

1854 · St. George's Hall

In 1854, St. George's Hall was completed. The site that it sits on is were the Liverpool Infirmary was previously located. The hall was built for entertainment.

Name Meaning

German: from Middle High German karre ‘cart, barrow’ (from Latin carrus), hence a metonymic occupational name for a carter or cart maker.
