He married Zina Rosella Newberry Morris on 25 November 1870, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 4 daughters. He immigrated to Liverpool, Lancashire, England in 1854 and lived in Brighton Precinct, Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1870 and Election Precinct 4, Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1920. He died on 1 July 1930, in Magna, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 84, and was buried in Pleasant Green Cemetery, Magna, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.

After a special session of Congress, the Articles of Impeachment were approved by the House and then the Senate. Making Andrew Johnson the first President to be Impeached.
