When Jens Nielson was born on 26 April 1820, in Tirsted, Ålholm, Denmark, his father, Niels Jensen, was 25 and his mother, Margaretha Dorothea Jensen, was 20. He married Elsie Rasmussen on 18 May 1850, in Stokkemarke, Lollands Sønder, Maribo, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 4 daughters. He lived in Flensburg, Slesvig, Denmark in 1845 and Cedar City, Iron, Utah, United States in 1870. He died on 22 April 1906, in Bluff, San Juan, Utah, United States, at the age of 85, and was buried in Bluff, San Juan, Utah, United States.

1821 · Financial Relief for Public Land

A United States law to provide financial relief for the purchasers of Public Lands. It permitted the earlier buyers, that couldn't pay completely for the land, to return the land back to the government. This granted them a credit towards the debt they had on land. Congress, also, extended credit to buyer for eight more years. Still while being in economic panic and the shortage of currency made by citizens, the government hoped that with the time extension, the economy would improve.

Kuffert Sorensen was established in 1829 by Carl Peter Sorensen as a leather goods company. Today the business has five locations and each are run by a member of the Sorensen family.
