When Anne Beus was born on 20 November 1838, in Pramollo, Turin, Piedmont, Italy, her father, Michel Beus, was 27 and her mother, Marianne Combe, was 25. She married Moses Byrne on 10 December 1857, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 2 daughters. She lived in Uintah, Weber, Utah, United States in 1880 and Rexburg, Fremont, Idaho, United States in 1900. She died on 2 April 1905, in Sunnydell, Fremont, Idaho, United States, at the age of 66, and was buried in Sutton Cemetery, Madison, Idaho, United States.

U.S. acquires vast tracts of Mexican territory in wake of Mexican War including California and New Mexico.

1857 · The State Capital moves to Des Moines

The Capitol was located in Iowa City until the 1st General Assembly of Iowa recognized that the Capitol should be moved farther west than Iowa City. Land was found two miles from the Des Moines River to start construction of the new building. Today the Capitol building still stands on its original plot.

German and Dutch (mainly De Beus): variant of Beuse, a cognate of German Böse (see Boese ).
