When Joel Parrish was born on 6 November 1827, in Kitley Township, Leeds, Canada West, British Colonial America, his father, Samuel Parrish, was 29 and his mother, Francis Dack, was 32. He married Sarah Myers Lindsay in 1850, in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States. He lived in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States in 1839 and Utah, United States in 1870. He died on 14 November 1904, in Centerville, Davis, Utah, United States, at the age of 77, and was buried in Centerville, Davis, Utah, United States.

1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.

1839 · Nauvoo is Settled

After the Saints had been chased out of Missouri they moved to a swampy area located next to the Mississippi River. Here they settled and named the place Nauvoo which translates into the city beautiful.

1848 · Fire Destroys the Temple

On October 9, 1848, an arsonists fire claimed everything but the outer walls of the Nauvoo Temple since the structure was made out of limestone and wood. It was meant to discourage the Saints that had fled to never come back.

English (mainly southern): from the Old French habitational name and personal name Paris . Parrish is the most common form of the name in English, and is the result of confusion between -s and -sh (compare Norris ), reinforced by folk etymological association with the modern English word parish.
