When Christian Andersen was born on 18 February 1796, in Svenstrup, Tårnborg, Slagelse, Sorø, Denmark, his father, Anders Nielsen, was 35 and his mother, Dorthe Christensdatter, was 26. He married Ingeborg Nielsdatter on 1 December 1823, in Kirke Stillinge, Antvorskov, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He lived in Tårnborg, Slagelse, Sorø, Denmark for about 11 years. He died on 21 March 1884, in Mount Pleasant, Sanpete, Utah, United States, at the age of 88, and was buried in Mount Pleasant, Sanpete, Utah, United States.

1797 · Albany is Named Capital of New York

Albany became the capital of New York in 1797. Albany is the oldest continuous settlement of the original 13 colonies.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
