When Elias Hutchings was born on 20 February 1784, in Winchester, Cheshire, New Hampshire, United States, his father, Asa Hutchins, was 19 and his mother, Abigail Stowell, was 19. He married Sarah Cox on 29 December 1816, in Avery, Milan Township, Huron, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Norwalk, Huron, Ohio, United States in 1820 and Orange Village, Cuyahoga, Ohio, United States in 1830. He died on 13 January 1845, in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States, at the age of 60, and was buried in Old Nauvoo Burial Grounds, Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States.

1786 · Shays' Rebellion

Caused by war veteran Daniel Shays, Shays' Rebellion was to protest economic and civil rights injustices that he and other farmers were seeing after the Revolutionary War. Because of the Rebellion it opened the eyes of the governing officials that the Articles of Confederation needed a reform. The Rebellion served as a guardrail when helping reform the United States Constitution.
