When Sarah Ann Hollister was born on 7 February 1827, in Caroline, Tompkins, New York, United States, her father, John Hollister, was 34 and her mother, Lavina Clearwater, was 34. She married Phineas Howe Young on 22 January 1846, in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States. She lived in Cedar City, Iron, Utah, United States in 1880 and Hamlin Valley Election Precinct, Iron, Utah, United States in 1900. She died on 18 April 1913, in Page Ranch, Iron, Utah, United States, at the age of 86, and was buried in Pinto Cemetery, Pinto, Washington, Utah, United States.

1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.

1839 · Nauvoo is Settled

After the Saints had been chased out of Missouri they moved to a swampy area located next to the Mississippi River. Here they settled and named the place Nauvoo which translates into the city beautiful.

1850 · Tornado Finishes off the Temple

On May 27, 1850, a tornado came through Nauvoo and took the remaining outer walls of the temple. It was the most frightful thing the city had witnessed. Not just a tornado but also lightening, thunder, wind, hail and rain assailed the spot. Over time what was not destroyed by the storm crumbled until only a small amount was left.
