When James Russell Ivie was born on 30 December 1802, in Franklin, Georgia, United States, his father, Anderson Ivie, was 28 and his mother, Sarah Allred, was 19. He married Eliza McKee Fausett in June 1824, in Shelbyville, Bedford, Tennessee, United States. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Provo, Utah, Utah, United States in 1849 and Mount Pleasant, Sanpete, Utah, United States in 1860. He died on 10 June 1866, in Scipio, Millard, Utah, United States, at the age of 63, and was buried in Scipio Pioneer Cemetery, Scipio, Millard, Utah, United States.
