He married Sarah Rees Leigh on 25 January 1828, in Llanedy, Carmarthenshire, Wales, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Llanelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales, United Kingdom for about 10 years and Brigham City, Box Elder, Utah, United States in 1860. He registered for military service in 1857. He died on 27 May 1867, in Wellsville, Cache, Utah, United States, at the age of 73, and was buried in Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville, Cache, Utah, United States.
