He married Mary David on 25 December 1845, in Llanelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 4 daughters. He immigrated to Utah, United States in 1852 and lived in Carmarthenshire, Wales, United Kingdom in 1891 and Reno, Washoe, Nevada, United States in 1900. He died on 24 October 1904, in Nephi, Juab, Utah, United States, at the age of 82, and was buried in Spanish Fork, Utah, Utah, United States.

The Museum of Lancashire is located in the former courthouse of Preston in Lancashire, England. The building was designed by Thomas Rickman. Some the exhibits include Lancashire through the years, at work, at play, goes to war, and law and order. All depict different times and events in Lancashire county. The museum closed in 2015 and is now only opened for scheduled appointments.
