When Johan Erik Forsgren was born on 7 November 1816, in Gävle, Gävleborg, Sweden, his father, Johan Olof Forsgren, was 23 and his mother, Anna Christina Eriksdotter Hjelm, was 29. He married Mary Ann Hunt on 31 January 1844, in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He lived in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States in 1839 and Moroni, Sanpete, Utah, United States in 1860. He died on 22 January 1890, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 73, and was buried in Brigham City Cemetery, Brigham City, Box Elder, Utah, United States.

1836 · Remember the Alamo

Being a monumental event in the Texas Revolution, The Battle of the Alamo was a thirteen-day battle at the Alamo Mission near San Antonio. In the early morning of the final battle, the Mexican Army advanced on the Alamo. Quickly being overrun, the Texian Soldiers quickly withdrew inside the building. The battle has often been overshadowed by events from the Mexican–American War, But the Alamo gradually became known as a national battle site and later named an official Texas State Shrine.
