When Robert Williams Bidwell was born on 29 May 1794, in Stillwater, Saratoga, New York, United States, his father, Phineas Bidwell, was 23 and his mother, Hannah J. Williams, was 22. He married Elizabeth Ann Roe in 1829, in Farmersville, Cattaraugus, New York, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Davis, Utah, United States in 1850. He died on 4 January 1851, in Pleasant View, Weber, Utah, United States, at the age of 56, and was buried in Hogan Park, Woods Cross, Davis, Utah, United States.

1797 · Albany is Named Capital of New York

Albany became the capital of New York in 1797. Albany is the oldest continuous settlement of the original 13 colonies.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.

English: habitational name from Bedwell (Essex, Hertfordshire), Bedlar's Green (Essex), Bidwell (Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Devon, Somerset), or Biddles Farm (Buckinghamshire), all of which were named as ‘the spring or stream in a shallow valley’ from Old English bydewelle (composed of the elements byde(n) ‘tub’ + well(a) ‘spring, stream’).
