When Benjamin Lynn Clapp was born on 19 August 1814, in West Huntsville, Madison, Alabama, United States, his father, Ludwig "Ludwick Lewis" Clapp, was 54 and his mother, Margaret Ann Loy, was 41. He married Mary Rachael Schultz in 1833. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. He immigrated to Utah, United States in 1856. He died on 31 October 1865, in San Joaquin, California, United States, at the age of 51.

With the Aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars the global market for trade was down. During this time, America had its first financial crisis and it lasted for only two years. 

1819 · Alabama Becomes a State

Alabama became the twenty-second state admitted to the Union on December 14, 1819.

1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.
