When Justus Morse was born on 27 March 1809, in Chester, Hampshire, Massachusetts, United States, his father, Stephen Morse, was 28 and his mother, Mabel Adkins Riley, was 27. He married Sally Goodwin on 10 August 1828, in Mantua, Portage, Ohio, United States. He lived in Marietta, Washington, Ohio, United States in 1880 and Hamilton Township, Decatur, Iowa, United States in 1885. He died on 30 October 1887, in Lamoni, Decatur, Iowa, United States, at the age of 78, and was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Decatur, Iowa, United States.
