When Harmon Cutler was born on 16 July 1799, in Dover, Dutchess, New York, United States, his father, Samuel Cutler, was 26 and his mother, Hannah Cordelia Youngs, was 27. He married Susannah Barton on 13 November 1825, in Cobleskill, Cobleskill, Schoharie, New York, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Camden, Camden, Oneida, New York, United States in 1830 and Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States in 1839. He died on 28 January 1869, in West Jordan, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 69, and was buried in Cutler Hill Cemetery, Midvale, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
