He married Anne Christoffersdatter on 15 February 1840, in Nørre Nærå, Skam, Odense, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 3 daughters. He lived in Mønsted, Fjends, Viborg, Denmark in 1850 and Klinte, Skam, Odense, Denmark in 1850. He died on 26 June 1859, in Nebraska, United States, at the age of 48.
