When Lars Peter Nielsen was born on 27 June 1856, in Vester Vamdrup, Vamdrup, Riberhus, Denmark, his father, Ole Nielson, was 36 and his mother, Pernilla Nilsdotter Bom, was 38. He married Phebe Jane Sanders on 26 April 1912, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. He lived in Strathcona, Edmonton, Edmonton Metropolitan Region, Alberta, Canada in 1906 and Medicine Hat, Cypress, Alberta, Canada in 1911. He died on 21 January 1916, at the age of 59, and was buried in Mountain View, Cardston, Alberta, Canada.
