He married Janet Gourley on 21 January 1867, in Goshen, Juab, Utah, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Cardston Alberta Temple, Cardston, Cardston County, Alberta, Canada in 1906 and Medicine Hat, Alberta, Northwest Territories, Canada in 1911. He died on 22 July 1920, in Raymond, County of Warner No. 5, Alberta, Canada, at the age of 74, and was buried in Temple Hill Cemetery, Raymond, County of Warner No. 5, Alberta, Canada.
