Brief Life History of Appleton Milo

When Appleton Milo Harmon was born on 29 May 1820, in Conneaut Township, Erie, Pennsylvania, United States, his father, Jesse Perse Harmon, was 24 and his mother, Anna Barnes, was 22. He married Elmeda S Stringham on 1 January 1845, in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 6 daughters. He immigrated to Utah, United States in 1848 and lived in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States for about 10 years and Toquerville, Kane, Utah, United States in 1870. He registered for military service in 1868. He died on 26 February 1877, in Holden, Millard, Utah, United States, at the age of 56, and was buried in Holden Cemetery, Holden, Millard, Utah, United States.

1821 · Financial Relief for Public Land

A United States law to provide financial relief for the purchasers of Public Lands. It permitted the earlier buyers, that couldn't pay completely for the land, to return the land back to the government. This granted them a credit towards the debt they had on land. Congress, also, extended credit to buyer for eight more years. Still while being in economic panic and the shortage of currency made by citizens, the government hoped that with the time extension, the economy would improve.

1836 · Remember the Alamo

Being a monumental event in the Texas Revolution, The Battle of the Alamo was a thirteen-day battle at the Alamo Mission near San Antonio. In the early morning of the final battle, the Mexican Army advanced on the Alamo. Quickly being overrun, the Texian Soldiers quickly withdrew inside the building. The battle has often been overshadowed by events from the Mexican–American War, But the Alamo gradually became known as a national battle site and later named an official Texas State Shrine.
