He lived in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States in 1839 and Utah, United States in 1870. He registered for military service in 1812. He died on 24 December 1877, in Holden, Millard, Utah, United States, at the age of 82, and was buried in Holden, Millard, Utah, United States.

The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years.
