When Hans Andersen Pihl was born on 16 January 1816, in Vester Marie, Bornholm, Denmark, his father, Anders Pedersen, was 33 and his mother, Elisabeth Christine Christensdatter, was 27. He married Ingeborg Kirstine Jespersdatter on 21 April 1849, in Østerlarsker, Bornholm, Denmark. He lived in Vester Marie, Vestermarie, Bornholm, Denmark in 1834 and Østerlarsker, Bornholm, Denmark in 1850. He died on 24 July 1853, in Wood River, Hall, Nebraska, United States, at the age of 37, and was buried in Wood River, Hall, Nebraska, United States.
