He married Aaltje Lankamp on 27 June 1883, in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands. He lived in Kanesville, Weber, Utah, United States for about 20 years. He died on 8 April 1932, in Wilson, Weber, Utah, United States, at the age of 75, and was buried in Ogden, Weber, Utah, United States.

Weber comes from John Henry Weber, an early fur trader. The university opened for students on January 7, 1889. By the late 1920's, the college was in financial difficulty and the Utah Legislature passed a law allowing the purchase of both Weber College and Snow College from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1954 the college moved from downtown Ogden the southeast bench area of the city where it resides currently.
Flemish and Dutch form of Derek . Its use in the English-speaking world since the 1960s is largely due to the fame of the actor Dirk Bogarde ( 1921–99 , born Derek Niven van den Bogaerde ). He was of Dutch descent, although he was actually born in Scotland. The manly image of the name has been reinforced by its coincidence in form with Scottish dirk ‘dagger’ (from Gaelic durc).
