John Orson Angus was born on 27 October 1812, in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom as the son of William Angus and Agnes Govan. He married Elizabeth Patrick about 1853. He lived in Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1860 and Utah, United States in 1870. He died on 22 September 1880, at the age of 67, and was buried in St. George, Washington, Utah, United States.
