He married Mary Caroline Fowler on 7 May 1835, in Bennington, Vermont, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 7 daughters. He lived in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States in 1839 and Pottawattamie, Iowa, United States in 1850. He died on 20 March 1897, in Spring City, Sanpete, Utah, United States, at the age of 85, and was buried in Spring City Cemetery, Spring City, Sanpete, Utah, United States.
