She married Thomas McNeil on 19 June 1845, in Tranent, Haddingtonshire, Scotland. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 3 daughters. She immigrated to Utah, United States in 1859. She died on 6 December 1900, in Logan, Cache, Utah, United States, at the age of 78, and was buried in Logan, Cache, Utah, United States.

The Scottish Reform Act was introduced by Parliament that introduced changes to the election laws in Scotland.
