He married Mary Ann Merrill on 5 November 1849, in Pottawattamie, Iowa, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 2 May 1897, in Croydon, Morgan, Utah, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Coalville Cemetery, Coalville, Summit, Utah, United States.
