When Lyman Lafayette Woods was born on 23 July 1833, in Fredonia, Chautauqua, New York, United States, his father, Levi Farnsworth Woods, was 41 and his mother, Roxana Cresson, was 40. He married Maribah Ann Bird on 13 July 1856, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, United States in 1839. He registered for military service in 1857. He died on 29 January 1918, in St. George, Washington, Utah, United States, at the age of 84, and was buried in Barclay Cemetery, Barclay, Lincoln, Nevada, United States.

1836 · Remember the Alamo

Being a monumental event in the Texas Revolution, The Battle of the Alamo was a thirteen-day battle at the Alamo Mission near San Antonio. In the early morning of the final battle, the Mexican Army advanced on the Alamo. Quickly being overrun, the Texian Soldiers quickly withdrew inside the building. The battle has often been overshadowed by events from the Mexican–American War, But the Alamo gradually became known as a national battle site and later named an official Texas State Shrine.

After the Saints had been chased out of Missouri they moved to a swampy area located next to the Mississippi River. Here they settled and named the place Nauvoo which translates into the city beautiful.
