When George Washington Adair was born on 18 March 1818, in Carthage, Smith, Tennessee, United States, his father, Thomas Adair, was 46 and his mother, Rebecca Brown, was 33. He married Miriam Jane Billingsley on 6 May 1846, in Tioga, Mahaska, Iowa, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Payson, Utah, Utah, United States in 1856 and Beaver, Beaver, Utah, United States for about 10 years. He died on 28 August 1897, in Orderville, Kane, Utah, United States, at the age of 79, and was buried in Orderville Cemetery, Orderville, Kane, Utah, United States.
