When Robert Benham was born on 15 February 1799, his father, William Benham, was 27 and his mother, Jeanne Dolbel, was 28. He married Esther Elizabeth Barrow on 20 March 1820, in Saint Helier, Jersey. They were the parents of at least 11 sons and 1 daughter. He lived in Saint Helier, Jersey in 1851. He died in 1865, at the age of 66.
