1811 · USS Revenge

On January 9, 1811, the USS Revenge hits a reef off of Watch Hill, Rhode Island. The load the ship is carrying is handed off to other ships and the USS Revenge is tied down by tow ropes. It brakes free from the ropes and later sinks. In 2011 divers find what are believed to be the remains of the ship.

1812 · Manchester Food Riots

The Manchester Food Riots started on April 18, 1812, in Shudehill. The main focus was on the potato market. By 3pm, calvary and infantry soldiers began patrolling the streets and breaking up the crowds.

1815

The defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte at Waterloo marks the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Napoleon defeated and exiled to St. Helena.

English: habitational name, perhaps from Dugdale near Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, now known as Dagdale, from the Old English personal name or byname Ducca + Old English dæl or Old Norse dalr ‘valley’, or possibly from an as yet unidentified place near Clithero in Lancashire.
