When Ebbe Jessen was born on 7 April 1816, in Bredstrup, Koldinghus, Denmark, his father, Jes Olesen, was 37 and his mother, Anne Marie Ebbesdatter, was 34. He married Dorthe Pedersen on 2 March 1841, in Sankt Michaelis, Fredericia, Vejle, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 1 daughter. He lived in Jerlev, Jerlev, Vejle, Denmark in 1834 and Copenhagen, Denmark in 1845. He died on 2 March 1899, in St. Anthony, Fremont, Idaho, United States, at the age of 82.
