He married Justina Johanna Esbjornsdotter on 17 March 1850, in Ragunda, Jämtland, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 2 daughters. He immigrated to Utah, United States in 1867. He died on 10 March 1914, in Milton, Morgan, Utah, United States, at the age of 78, and was buried in Milton, Morgan, Utah, United States.
