When Jehu Cox, Sr. was born on 5 September 1803, in Knox, Kentucky, United States, his father, Thomas Isaac Cox, was 27 and his mother, Rachel Carr, was 32. He married Sarah Riddle Pyle on 13 January 1824, in Salt Creek Township, Monroe, Indiana, United States. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 7 daughters. He lived in Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1850 and Union, Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1860. He registered for military service in 1867. He died on 24 December 1893, in Fairview, Sanpete, Utah, United States, at the age of 90, and was buried in Fairview Pioneer Cemetery, Fairview, Sanpete, Utah, United States.
