When Don Mendenhall Handy was born on 3 August 1914, in Whitney, Franklin, Idaho, United States, his father, Alonzo Hazelton Handy, was 34 and his mother, Nettie Pearl Mendenhall, was 31. He married Dorothy Hurst on 6 June 1941, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons. He immigrated to Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, United States in 1939 and lived in Preston, Franklin, Idaho, United States for about 20 years and Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska, United States in 1950. He died on 9 April 1996, in Sandy, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States.

1916 · The First woman elected into the US Congress

Jeannette Pickering Rankin became the first woman to hold a federal office position in the House of Representatives, and remains the only woman elected to Congress by Montana.

1916 · The Logan Library

The Logan Library was created to serve the fifty thousand citizens of Logan with the access of over two hundred thousand items for children, teens, students, and adults to check out and learn from. The library also provides several programs that are popular with the community. The library moved to its current location in 2009 and reached a milestone in items checked out in 2012, at over 1 million.

1937 · The Neutrality Act

The Neutrality Acts were passed in response to the growing conflicts in Europe and Asia during the time leading up to World War II. The primary purpose was so the US wouldn't engage in any more foreign conflicts. Most of the Acts were repealed in 1941 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.
