When Christian Waldemar Andersen was born on 24 March 1893, in Villingerød, Esbønderup, Kronborg, Denmark, his father, Anton Andersen, was 24 and his mother, Johanna Jonasdotter Lith, was 23. He married Carma Pearl Monson on 7 June 1917. They were the parents of at least 4 daughters. He lived in Esbønderup, Holbo, Frederiksborg, Denmark in 1901 and Preston, Oneida, Idaho, United States in 1910. He died on 30 December 1970, in Goshen, Bingham, Idaho, United States, at the age of 77, and was buried in Goshen Cemetery, Goshen, Bingham, Idaho, United States.

1896 · Plessy vs. Ferguson

A landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the constitutionality of racial segregation laws for public facilities if the segregated facilities were equal in quality. It's widely regarded as one of the worst decisions in U.S. Supreme Court history.

1898 · Paper Money Becomes Sole Currency

Paper money had been scarce in Preston until the year 1898. Script currency was used which contained the promise of goods or services rather than paper money. In 1898, script was discontinued and “a lithographed article, much resembling the greenback” was used instead. At first the transition was awkward as nearest bank was located in Logan, Utah. Paper currency became plentiful soon after.
