When Lewis Betts Parkin was born on 16 March 1897, in Woods Cross, Davis, Utah, United States, his father, Heber Brown Parkin, was 24 and his mother, Mary Jane Betts, was 23. He married Ruby Elmira Knudsen on 21 May 1927. He lived in Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1935 and Election Precinct 10, Salt Lake, Utah, United States in 1940. He registered for military service in 1917. He died on 15 January 1945, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, United States, at the age of 47, and was buried in Bountiful Memorial Park, Bountiful, Davis, Utah, United States.

1898 · War with the Spanish
After the explosion of the USS Maine in the Havana Harbor in Cuba, the United States engaged the Spanish in war. The war was fought on two fronts, one in Cuba, which helped gain their independence, and in the Philippines, which helped the US gain another territory for a time.
1901 · The Daughters of Utah Pioneers
The Daughters of Utah Pioneers was organized by Annie Taylor Hyde after she invited a group of fifty-four women to her home to find ways to recognize names and achievements of the men, women and children who were the pioneers. They followed the lead of other national lineage societies, such as the Daughters of the American Revolution. They were legally incorporated in 1925.
