He married Lorenda Elizabeth Bronson on 4 March 1854, in Fillmore, Millard, Utah, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Iowa, United States in 1846 and Fillmore, Millard, Utah, United States in 1854. He registered for military service in 1906. He died on 29 July 1912, in Scipio, Millard, Utah, United States, at the age of 77, and was buried in Scipio Cemetery, Scipio, Millard, Utah, United States.

1836 · Remember the Alamo

Being a monumental event in the Texas Revolution, The Battle of the Alamo was a thirteen-day battle at the Alamo Mission near San Antonio. In the early morning of the final battle, the Mexican Army advanced on the Alamo. Quickly being overrun, the Texian Soldiers quickly withdrew inside the building. The battle has often been overshadowed by events from the Mexican–American War, But the Alamo gradually became known as a national battle site and later named an official Texas State Shrine.

1857 · The State Capital moves to Des Moines

The Capitol was located in Iowa City until the 1st General Assembly of Iowa recognized that the Capitol should be moved farther west than Iowa City. Land was found two miles from the Des Moines River to start construction of the new building. Today the Capitol building still stands on its original plot.
