He married Ruth Hammond on 28 September 1934, in Logan, Cache, Utah, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons. He lived in Sugar City, Madison, Idaho, United States for about 72 years. He died on 3 January 1992, in Bountiful, Davis, Utah, United States, at the age of 84, and was buried in Sugar City Cemetery, Sugar City, Madison, Idaho, United States.

Natural Bridges National Monument was designated a National Monument in 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt. It is Utah’s first National Monument but didn’t get many visitors until after the uranium boom of the 1950s. Today the Monument and its park became the first International Dark Sky Park certified by the International Dark-Sky Association.
