    1875 · A Treaty with Hawaii

    In the Mid 1870s, The United States sought out the Kingdom of Hawaii to make a free trade agreement. The Treaty gave the Hawaiians access to the United States agricultural markets and it gave the United States a part of land which later became Pearl Harbor.
    1877 · First LDS Branch in Preston
    Age 3
    The first LDS branch in Preston was organized in 1877. The branch was organized with Elisha R. Lawrence as Presiding Elder, William Garrison as music director, David Jensen was Superintendent of Sunday School, and Mary Hull as President of the Relief Society. Meetings were held in the homes of the members. Another branch was organized soon after on the west side of Worm Creek with Nahum Porter as Presiding Elder.
